THE GAZETTE

Three men are in the hospital this morning after knife-wielding assailants attacked them last night on South Nevada Avenue in two separate incidents, Colorado Springs police report.

In the first altercation around 8:30 p.m., two men were stabbed at St. Elmo and South Nevada avenues.

One of the men then walked into a lobby of a nearby motel requesting help. After police arrived, they followed a blood trail to a bus stop, which they say was the scene of the crime.

The second victim made his way to another motel and asked for help. He had minor cuts to his jaw. Both were taken to area hospitals with nonthreatening injuries, police said.

The second incident occurred around 11 p.m. blocks away, in the area of 400 E. Brookside Drive. Police responded to a report of a disturbance in a parking lot, and found several men loitering. They denied that anything had occurred, police said. But soon afterward, police were notified of yet another stabbing victim being treated at Memorial Hospital. The victim said he had been in the Brookside area when he was stabbed and hit.

Two men have been jailed for the Brookside incident, and police say they are trying to determine whether they were involved in all three stabbings.

Harrison school district closer to pay for performance for teachers
Should teacher pay be based on performance?
Yes. Teachers should be rewarded for good work, and poor performers should be weeded out.
No. Pay for performance is just a back-door way of blaming teachers for other problems in the education system.
It depends on what "performance" means. It's good if there's a fair measurement of performance.
Undecided.
