• Caiona Kilmer and Ann Sulley have both been promoted to assistant vice president for American National Bank. Both Kilmer and Sully have been with American National Bank for more than three years.
• Wells Fargo announced the promotion of Gitty Betts, Angie Hermanstorfer and Louise Smith to vice president. Betts, district manager, manages 160 team members at eight stores and has worked in the financial services industry for 26 years and with Wells Fargo since 1994. Hermanstorfer, district manager, manages 140 team members at nine stores; she was a 19-year Wachovia veteran when she joined Wells Fargo in 2009 as part of the merger of the two companies. Smith, store manager, manages nearly 40 team members at Wells Fargo’s store on North Circle Drive and has 18 years of financial services experience; she joined Wells Fargo in November 2005.
ENGINEERING
• William C. Hoffman Jr. has been elected president of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Colorado’s board of directors. Hoffmann is the senior principal, vice president and Colorado Springs branch manager for CTL/Thompson and has been active with the ACEC/CO for more than 20 years. He is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Colorado Association of Geotechnical Engineers, the Association of Engineering Firms Practicing the Geo Sciences and the Housing and Building Association.
CONSTRUCTION
• TRAX Construction has been awarded a $14,403 general dividend from Pinnacol Assurance for its safety efforts. TRAX has made safety a high priority on 2009 by hiring a full time safety administrator and creating an aggressive return-to-work program.
• Murphy Co. account manager Vicki Chase has been awarded the Colorado Facilities of Excellence Associate of the Year award. Chase was recognized for her leadership and hours of dedication to the Pikes Peak chapter of the International Facilities Managers Association.
INSURANCE
• Martin Burlingame and Tom Brunett have qualified as Farmers Championship agents. The agents will attended the championship conference Tuesday-Saturday in San Diego. Only 164 agents and 22 district managers earned the honor to attend the conference.
OTHER INDUSTRIES
• Wal-Mart and the Walmart Foundation has donated more than 1.1 billion pounds of food, benefiting food banks in Colorado including Food Bank of the Rockies and Care and Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado.
• Brakes Plus, headquartered in Centennial, is celebrating 20 years of service. Brakes Plus has more than 50 locations, including seven in Colorado Springs.
• The Home Front Cares announced the selection of April Speake as executive director. Speake has more than 12 years experience working with nonprofits in the Colorado Springs area; she will serve as the first full-time executive director for The Home Front Cares, which has provided more than $1,630,000 in aid to Colorado military families.
• Justice Brothers has appointed Mark Alberts as distributor for northeastern Colorado, which includes Denver and Colorado Springs. Justice Brothers is a manufacturer and worldwide distributor of more than 100 car-care, fleet, farm and industrial lubricants, additives and cleaners.
• The Colorado Springs American Airlines employees have been honored with the first quarter 2010 Customer Cup. Customer Cups are categorized and awarded by market size from largest stations to smallest stations according to flight activity. The Cup rewards employees for their performance in serving customers at the airport and onboard the aircraft, as well as how well the airline delivers customers’ bags and handles delays.
• The Center for Hearing, Speech and Language has received a $20,000 Daniels Fund grant to support the hearing aid bank. The grant will help the center provide new or refurbished/repaired hearing aids and other types of hearing assistance equipment to low-income adults, seniors and children.
• Chick-fil-A has awarded David Lightfoot a $1,000 National Leadership Scholarship. Lightfoot is employed by the Chick-fil-A on North Academy Boulevard and is studying business administration at UCCS.
• Terrie Weakly has been promoted to director level for Reliv International, a direct selling company that develops and markets nutritional supplements.

The submission must include the name of the event, its time, date and place with the address included. Also include contact information for the public, which can include a phone number, an e-mail address or a Web address, and whether there is a cost.
Items may also be submitted online by visiting http://events.gazette.com/listings. It is a free service, but will require registration for a username and password.
Other items
The Essentials listings are for awards, promotions, new hires and new businesses. Pictures may be included but must be at least 1MB in size. Head shots are recommended.
