22 police cars needed to quell fight at former 13 Pure nightclub
Recommend 0A fight boiled into a small riot early today when police had to use pepper spray to break up the scene outside a downtown nightclub.
The fight at the Syn Nightclub, formerly the 13 Pure nightclub at 217 E. Pikes Peak Ave., broke out inside the club at 1:45 a.m. and when Colorado Springs Police arrived, they saw injured employees leaving the club and trying to force unruly patrons outside, according to a police report.
Police say that about 75 to 100 people inside the club were involved, and they continued fighting when forced out of the club. In all, more than 22 police cruisers were called to the scene to help break up the fight with pepper spray.
Witnesses told police that a fight broke out in the main room of the club and then several fights throughout the rest of the club started at about the same time. Inside the club, police said they found a victim on the floor with multiple cuts to his chest, possibly by a broken bottle. He was taken to Penrose Hospital for his injuries, which were not life threatening. Six club employees were treated at a hospital for their minor injuries, and released.
In recent months, the club has been the site of several violent incidents. The club’s liquor license is also under review for allegedly selling alcohol to minors.
Police have not yet said whether they made any arrests.
