78-year-old jailed after shooting in senior mobile home park

A 78-year-old man was arrested Monday on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder after police say he took several shots at another man inside a mobile home park for seniors.

The 61-year-old victim was not injured in the 1:45 p.m. incident at the Emerald Acres Mobile Home Park, 3750 N. Cascade – an adults-only facility.

Police arrested Ramon Young, 78,  and he was being held Monday night at the El Paso County jail on a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled for court at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.  

Young has a criminal record that includes charges of menacing and intimidating a witness in  2001. In that case, he pleaded guilty to the lesser crime of harassment and was sentenced to six months of unsupervised probation. In 2009, he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor theft charge in Teller County and was sentenced to unsupervised probation for a year.
