Farewell party for Payne AME pastor
Members and staff at Payne Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 3625 Marion Drive, are giving their pastor a send-off party 5-7 p.m. Oct. 24 at Tesla Educational Center, 2560 International Circle.
The Rev. Jesse Brown Jr., has been a beloved leader at Payne Chapel during his nearly 20 years of service, said church treasurer Rebecca Price. “He had an attitude of community and compassion,” Price said.
On Aug. 23, Brown announced his transfer to the Campbell Chapel AME Church in Denver, where he’ll be senior pastor.
The send-off party will include refreshments and remembrances of Brown. To register for the free event, call Payne Chapel at 591-6271.
