Rescuers combed Pikes Peak Monday evening for a 22-year-old Fort Carson lieutenant who did not report for duty Monday.

Pikes Peak Rangers found the soldier's car at the top of the peak Sunday night in their routine sweep to ensure visitors have descended at the mountain's close, said Brian Kensey, mission coordinator with El Paso County Search and Rescue.

The soldier's name has not been released.

Rescue crews searched for the man for more than five hours Monday night and were expecting to suspend the mission overnight as weather on the peak was worsening by the hour.

Kensey said he was considering allowing members of the soldier's unit to assist in the search.
