• American Medical Response has won a 2010 International Stevie Award for Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year in North America. The winning program, Sentimental Journey, was created at the company’s operation in Colorado Springs and works with local hospice providers to help terminally ill patients and family members fulfill last wishes with day trips to locations chosen by the patient. The award is the second consecutive International Stevie for AMR.
• Colorado Springs-based Skyline Products, a developer, manufacturer and provider of ITS-Grade dynamic message sign (DSM) solutions for the transportation industry, has been selected by the Hawaii Department of Transportation to provide multiple sizes of DMs in a statewide procurement contract. The dynamic message signs will be used to inform motorists of accident alerts, weather conditions and other things.
• Aleut Management Services, an Alaska native-owned business based in Colorado Springs, has opened an office in Anchorage.
• Rosalinda Montemayor Chaney, of Keller Williams Clients’ Choice Realty, was awarded the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation and joins a worldwide network of global real estate practitioners with expertise in working with international clients as well as serving the growing multicultural population in the United States.
• Robert Alvarez of Colorado Springs has been appointed military outreach officer by Give an Hour, a national nonprofit organization providing free mental health services to members of the military, veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan and their families.
• Stockman Kast Ryan + Co., a locally owned certified public accounting firm, announced the hiring of Karen Clark and Regan Piasecki as tax preparers.
• URS Corporation, an architecture, engineering and construction services firm with offices in Colorado Springs, Glenwood Springs and Denver, has named Diana Kazmer to the position of environmental marketing manager for its 500-plus-person Denver office.
• The Colorado Springs School Board of Trustees has announced five new members: William Biedermann, Randall Kouba, Jay Lee, Bill Nelson and Diane Weidman.
• Toby Simmons has been named general manager of the Embassy Suites Colorado Springs, where he will oversee all aspects of the hotel’s sales, marketing, operations and management. Simmons previously was general manager of Embassy Suites Lompoc Central Coast Hotel in California.
l• Stinnett Thiebaud & Remington LLP, known for its practice in civil litigation and health care law, has opened an office in Colorado Springs. Mark A. Stinnett, the firm’s senior trial attorney and one of its founders, will serve as managing partner for the new office. Margaret Masters will join Stinnett as “of counsel” in the office.
• The Citadel mall has hired Randall Johnson as security manager. Johnson served with the Colorado Springs Police Department for 33 years.
