Pikes Peak Marathon and Ascent registration resumes March 13

Registration for the Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon will continue next week after computer server proglems Thursday left hundreds of runners wondering whether they had secured spots in the Aug. 18-19 races.

The remaining spots will be filled March 13 on www.active.com. No Active.com fees will be charged, and the 452 people with reserved spots in Wave 1 of the Pikes Peak Ascent will have their Active.com fees refunded.

Registration for the 1,000 spots in Wave 2 of the Pikes Peak Ascent will begin at 6 a.m. Registration for the 815 spots in the Pikes Peak Marathon will begin at 6:30 a.m. Registration for the 463 spots in Wave 1 of the Pikes Peak Ascent will begin at 7 a.m.

The Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon board of directors announced today that registration for waves that were less than 50 percent full would pick up where they left off and registration for waves that were full would start over.

The 452 people registered for Wave 1 of the Pikes Peak Ascent represented 49.4 percent, meaning a do-over wasn’t necessary. All spots for Wave 2 of the Pikes Peak Ascent and the Pikes Peak Marathon were full.

“We realized we couldn’t please everybody,” said Ron Ilgen, president of the Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon. “There are some that persevered and were fortunate to get in, but that wasn’t the intent for registration. We thought starting those two (registrations) over was the best we could do.”

The marathon's web site, pikespeakmarathon.org, has a list of those runners already registered.

Harrison school district closer to pay for performance for teachers
Should teacher pay be based on performance?
Yes. Teachers should be rewarded for good work, and poor performers should be weeded out.
No. Pay for performance is just a back-door way of blaming teachers for other problems in the education system.
It depends on what "performance" means. It's good if there's a fair measurement of performance.
Undecided.
