Recent grads prepare for next ceremony

Twenty-seven young women from eight area high schools will be presented at the Colorado Springs Debutante Ball in December.
The Colorado Springs Debutante Ball has been a tradition in Colorado Springs for 42 years. Proceeds benefit the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center's ongoing acquisition fund. Through May, more than $500,000 has been raised for the museum's permanent collection.

The 2009 debutantes:

Caroline Christine Alexander, a graduate of Simla High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mitchell Alexander. She plans to attend Troy University.

Arielle Elizabeth Avant, a graduate of Cheyenne Mountain High School, is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Daniel Adam Avant. She plans to attend the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

Valerie Anna Bordelon, a graduate of Air Academy High School, is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Brock Matthew Bordelon. She plans to attend Colorado State University.

Megan Elizabeth Carroll, a graduate of The Colorado Springs School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thomas Carroll. She plans to attend Pepperdine University.

Madeleine Jeanne Cooper, a graduate of Cheyenne Mountain High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Marc Cooper. She plans to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Breanne Marie Dewhirst, a graduate of Colorado Springs Christian School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Miles Milton Dewhirst. She plans to attend Colorado State University.

Anne Edwards Elder, a graduate of Cheyenne Mountain High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Harvey Elder III. She plans to attend Vanderbilt University.

Catharine Joy Fairchild, a graduate of Cheyenne Mountain High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Douglas Fairchild. She plans to attend the University of Denver.

Katherine Ervin Fenaughty, a graduate of Rampart High School, is the daughter of Daniel Owen Fenaughty and Mr. and Mrs. Richard David Janitell. She plans to attend Arizona State University.

Renee Katherine Freyschlag, a graduate of Cheyenne Mountain High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Scott Freyschlag. She plans to attend John Brown University.

Hannah Ainsley Skarda Green, a graduate of Coronado High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Martel Green. She plans to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Emily Ann Hanna, a graduate of Fountain Valley School, is the daughter of the late Kirk Michael Hanna and Mrs. Ann Howard Hanna. She plans to attend Texas Christian University.

Rebecca Johnson Howsam, a graduate of Fountain Valley School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Howsam Jr. She plans to attend Tulane University.

Suzanne Yukiko Iwata, a graduate of Air Academy High School, is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Samuel Hiroyuki Iwata. She plans to attend Gonzaga University.

Caroline McKenna Johnson, a graduate of The Colorado Springs School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Steven Johnson. She plans to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Laura Carole Johnson, a graduate of The Colorado Springs School, is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Charles LaRue Johnson. She plans to attend Fort Hays State University.
