Backyard prowler wanted on burglary warrant

Police investigating reports of a backyard prowler Wednesday morning stopped a vehicle to question the driver -- and arrested him on a burglary warrant.

Richard Flewwellin also allegedly had illegal narcotics in his possession when he was arrested, Colorado Springs police said. he was booked into the El Paso County jail.

The incident began about 8 a.m. when someone reported suspicious activity in the 1400 block of Alexander Road, police said. A man had knocked on the door of a home where a resident had just departed and when no one answered, the man went into the back yard, police said.

The homeowner returned and confronted the man in the backyard, and the man left in a white truck.

Police stopped a truck matching the description provided and arrested Flewwellin.
