Man fatally shot at bank identified

Police have released the identity of the man who was found with a fatal gunshot wound in The Bank at Broadmoor parking lot, 155 Lake Ave., at about 4 a.m. Saturday.

An autopsy found that Robert James, 23, died of multiple gunshot wounds. His death is the 19th homicide so far this year in Colorado Springs.

Police Sgt. Jeff Jensen said police will not be releasing suspect descriptions.

“We don’t have a blatant motive right now,” Jensen said. “We have theories right now, but we can’t discuss it because of the ongoing investigation.”

Jensen said police received reports of shots fired just before 2 a.m. Saturday. Detectives are asking that anyone who was in the bank area between 1:30 a.m. and 2 a.m. contact police.
