THE GAZETTE

A home invasion Wednesday night in southeast Colorado Springs led to a police chase and three arrests.

According to Colorado Springs police, at 10:45 p.m., several people wearing masks broke into an apartment at 3971 E. Bijou St. and forced the residents to the ground. One of the suspects cut a resident on the arm with a knife, police said.

The masked suspects took a resident's keys and drove off in the car, which was spotted later by police. A chase ensued, and the suspects jumped from the car in the 4500 block of Hollyridge Drive, police said.

Two were quickly caught, and a third, a teen girl, was arrested after a search of the area. Police arrested Jon Callaway, 20, and two unnamed juveniles on suspicion of first-degree burglary. Police said there may have been another suspect, known as "Cody."

TELLER COUNTY RECONNECTED

Authorities report that phone service has been restored in Teller County.

According to phone company Qwest, a cut fiber wire south of Cripple Creek Wednesday caused customers in Cripple Creek and Green Mountain Falls to lose service, and people in Woodland Park trying to make calls received messages that all circuits were busy.

The Teller County Sheriff's Office said early today the problem was fixed after midnight.

WARMER TODAY

Look for a return of summerlike temperatures in the Pikes Peak region today.

The National Weather Service predicts a high of 77 degrees in Colorado Springs, with sunny skies. That's a big change from the first part of the week, with highs of just 65 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday.

The weekend forecast looks promising, too, with more warmth and plenty of sun. Those looking to fit in one more camping trip in the mountains before the autumn chill can expect daytime temperatures in the mid-50s and sunny skies, dipping into the mid-30s overnight.

Ted Haggard is starting new church at his Colorado Springs home.
What's your view?
Good for him. If God has called Haggard to return to ministry, he should obey.
Haggard should stay out of the ministry. He has too much baggage to lead a church.
I don't care what Haggard does, and I'm sick of hearing about him in the news.
Haggard and anyone crazy enough to attend his church deserve each other.
Haggard has a lot to offer as a pastor. Let's give him a chance.
