Flying Horse: Luxury homes at variety of prices
Wouldn’t it be nice to feel like you’re on vacation whenever you go home?
That’s kind of the idea behind Flying Horse, a premier community on the north end of Colorado Springs.
“The whole concept was that we wanted to have a country club community – sort of a resort community – where you felt like you were living at a resort,” says Dan Winter, executive vice president of marketing and one of the owners of Classic Homes. “We wanted it to be one that was family oriented so it would be attractive to younger people, and even older people with grandkids.”
Eight Neighborhood Villages within Flying Horse offer a variety of home types at a variety of price points – and each comes with a membership in The Club at Flying Horse, a luxurious and welcoming club with activities for the entire family.
The newest home-buying opportunity in Flying Horse is The Village of Siena, which offers paired patio homes starting in the $260,000s. Classic Homes is now accepting reservations in the new neighborhood, which will offer a maintenance-free lifestyle for buyers who would rather spend their weekends having fun than mowing the lawn.
Those interested in finding out more about available homes and sites in the Village of Siena can visit the Classic Homes model in The Village of Sonoma, which offers detached luxury patio villas priced from the low $400,000s.
Other neighborhoods in Flying Horse include The Villages of Solera and Syrah, which offer closeout inventory homes from Vanguard Homes and Vantage Homes, priced from the mid-$300,000s; The Village of Saratoga, which features single-family homes priced from the $300,000s; The Village of Calistoga with lots priced from $100,000s; The Village of Verona, which offers view lots priced from the low $100,000s; and The Village of Toscano with custom home sites priced from the $500,000s.
Flying Horse is located off North Gate Boulevard and Interstate 25, offering a convenient commute to Colorado Springs and Denver. The community will be a “main site” in the 2011 Parade of Homes, which begins Aug. 5.
Throughout the community, there are eight to 10 fully decorated model homes and available inventory homes available for viewing, offering options ranging from low-maintenance patio homes to single-family homes to luxurious custom homes.
Upon purchasing a home in Flying Horse, buyers receive a Social Fitness membership at The Club at Flying Horse, which gives them access to The Clubhouse and The Athletic Club and Spa. At the Clubhouse, members can enjoy casual and fine dining in one of two restaurants, plus numerous spaces to simply relax and chat with friends.
“The clubhouse was designed to be very well done,” Winter says, “not super stuffy or formal.”
The Clubhouse offers private meeting rooms, private dining areas, a ballroom, outdoor eating spaces, outstanding views and an extensive selection of wine in the four-story “wine tower.” The Club hosts wine tastings and wine dinners regularly, and members can rent lockers on the bottom two floors of the tower, where their favorite wines will be stored and sold to them at normal retail prices.
The Athletic Club and Spa is in a nearby building, constructed with the same design aesthetics as The Clubhouse. There, members can work out on cardiovascular machines, hit the weight room, grab a snack at the snack bar in the winter, enjoy the grill in the summer, take an exercise class and more.
Each machine on the cardiovascular floor has its own TV, allowing members to work out while watching whatever program they choose. The weight room equipment was carefully selected to be the best available from a variety of manufacturers, and then finished so it all matches. A muscle activation specialist can help members maximize the effectiveness of their workouts. Fitness classes include pilates, yoga, cycling, aerobics and more. Other available classes include CPR and babysitting.
Five bodies of water at the Athletic Club and Spa give every family member a place to splash – from the six-inch-deep pool for toddlers to the saltwater lap lanes to the play area with a slide for older kids. When parents want to work out on their own, they can drop off kids ages 5 months to 12 years at the Kids’ Cabin for up to three hours a day. There, they will play games, sing songs or play outside in a special fenced play area.
The Club’s spa is on the lower level, accessed via stairs in the men’s and women’s locker rooms or an elevator in the lobby. The spa offers a full range of services, including facials, manicures, pedicures, massages, couples massages and more.
Tennis courts are located just outside the Athletic Club and Spa, with hard courts outside, including one stadium court, and four red clay courts indoors. The head tennis professional, Richard Beard, came to Flying Horse from The Broadmoor Hotel and Resort. Numerous tennis classes are offered for members and non-members.
Higher-end homes include full golf memberships with The Club at Flying Horse.
Those members enjoy easy access to the Tom Weiskopf Signature Golf Course, plus luxurious locker rooms and a golf shop. The head golf professional is Glenn Wallace, who has worked in the past for the Castle Pines Golf Club. An indoor practice facility allows golfers to practice year-round in heated bays.
