Arrested with Humvee missing from Carson, base says

THE GAZETTE

A Fort Carson private named Wayne Rambo was arrested this week in Kansas driving a Humvee believed to have been stolen from the base, authorities said.

Rambo told deputies he was moving to Missouri and that the military had loaned him the truck and a trailer he was towing, said Sherman County Sheriff Kevin Butts.

Rambo with the 4th Engineer Battalion was reported absent without leave from Fort Carson Monday morning, said post spokeswoman Karen Linne.

He was not loaned a Humvee, though officials did not connect him with one missing from the base until his arrest Tuesday, Linne said.

Rambo is the name of a Special Forces soldier played by Sylvester Stallone in the 1982 movie “First Blood” who wreaks havoc on a small town after being treated unfairly by local authorities.

Unlike the movie character, Rambo was calm after he was detained, Butts said.

Although he is suspected of stealing a four-wheeler from a Kansas farm, he was transferred to military authorities Wednesday afternoon, Butts said.

Linne said it is unclear what charges Rambo will face.

Authorities don’t know why Rambo went AWOL, Linne said. His unit was not scheduled to deploy, nor is he an Iraq war veteran, Linne said.

What's your view?
Good for him. If God has called Haggard to return to ministry, he should obey.
Haggard should stay out of the ministry. He has too much baggage to lead a church.
I don't care what Haggard does, and I'm sick of hearing about him in the news.
Haggard and anyone crazy enough to attend his church deserve each other.
