Schools help needy for Thanksgiving
Schools are getting in the Thanksgiving spirit by providing food for those in need.
Middle School students at Patriot Learning Center, an alternative school in Falcon School District 49, are preparing a turkey feast for senior citizens. The event is 11:30 a.m., Wednesday at the school, 11990 Swingline NE Rd. in Falcon. Their parents will prepare the meals, and staff are bringing ham and turkeys. The event benefits Harvest of Love food drive and Falcon Senior Services. Staff and students will also provide live music. For information call the school at 495-5505.
Another Thanksgiving event is planned by University School of Colorado Springs. Students have been raising money to make Thanksgiving boxes for families. The students will shop in local grocery stores Thursday and then box the items for distribution, according to Jeff Cooper, administrator.
