Ft. Carson student at White House science fair

Arimus Wells, a studnet at Funtain Fort Carson High School is  among a group of students from across the nation who  is  participating today, Feb. 7,  in the White House Science Fair .

President Obama plans to deliver remarks during the Science Fair to an audience of students, science educators and business leaders on the importance of STEM education to the country’s economic future.

The  event will be live streamed from 10:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. (ET) on  Coverage will also be available on Twitter (#WHScienceFair, and @whitehouseostp and @whitehouse).

Wells credited the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI) for providing his school access to Advanced Placement math, science and English courses and said the AP classes have “greatly benefited my academics."  He wants to study urban planning and public policy with a minor in business administration.

 Wells and the other students exemplify the “extraordinary accomplishments made possible when students are exposed to high-quality, engaging and hands-on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) learning opportunities,” stated Linda Rosen, CEO of CTEq, a non-profit organization dedicated to mobilizing the business community to improve the quality of STEM learning in the United States.
