Update: Fatal shooting
WHAT HAPPENED: Kyle Haner, 27, was fatally shot Dec. 3 in his girlfriend’s living room at 1222 Lewis Ave. Lisa Hinkle, 52, called and reported the shooting, telling a 911 operator she fired a single round from a pistol in self-defense, hitting Haner in the chest.
WHAT’S NEW: John Newsome, 4th Judicial District Attorney, concluded the shooting was in self-defense and ruled that no charges should be filed.
No further details were released.
THE BACKGROUND: Court documents and police reports revealed the couple had a rocky two-year relationship. In November, Hinkle told police that Haner hit her in the head with a pellet gun, and that he threatened to kill her.
Hinkle had applied for a restraining order against Haner and was scheduled to appear for a court hearing a halfhour before the fatal shooting.
