Rubio scored the lone Cougar goal in the first half. The team finished the regular season with a record of 9-6-1.
Coronado volleyball lost in the Class 5A District 3 Tournament to Pine Creek and Loveland. Pine Creek got the top spot to move onto the Region D Tournament with a number four seed.
The State Cross Country Championships were postponed due to inclement weather Saturday and have been moved to Saturday, Nov. 7. Starting times remain the same with the 5A boys race beginning at 1 p.m. at Fossil Ridge High School.
Manitou Springs volleyball earned second place behind Colorado Springs Christian School in the Region 5 3A District Tournament. The #15 ranked Mustangs (12-10) will travel to Valley High School to play #2 Valley (22-0),
#7 Platte Canyon (17-5) and #10 Platte Valley (15-6) in the Region B 3A Regional Tournament.
Manitou Springs middle school boys golf team finished first in the Phil Shaw Golf Tournament on Oct. 16 at Patty Jewett Golf Course over second place Holmes and third place Mann. Doogie Ortonward placed first individually with a score of 84 after a playoff against Mann’s Alex Gumper.
