Ent offers advice via podcasts
Looking for free financial advice from someone besides your parents?
Ent Federal Credit Union, southern Colorado's largest financial institution, has launched a series of monthly podcasts on its Web site (www.ent.com) about subjects ranging from avoiding foreclosure to understanding credit reports. The podcasts are available to members and the public. This month's podcast will cover federal deposit insurance and a future podcast will discuss first-time home-buying.
"Podcasts have been on our radar for about two years. We wanted to make our educational programs more accessible for those who can't attend our seminars in person," said Dana Chippindale, an Ent spokeswoman. The credit union set up a recording studio at its headquarters and uses members of its management team on the podcasts.
To listen to the first two installments, go to www.ent.com/tools/podcasts.asp?from=channel5-1. You can also sign up to receive new podcasts as they become available. Ent joins a growing number of credit unions nationwide offering podcasts, including the nation's largest, Navy Federal Credit Union, and others in California and Tennessee.

Broadmoor team second in contest
The Broadmoor's Penrose Room may have gotten its fifth diamond, but the hotel's team finished second last month to Omaha Steaks in the best chef competition at the American Society of Association Executives annual meeting in San Diego.
Bertrand Bouquin, executive chef of both the Penrose Room and the hotel's Summit restaurant, led the team in its first appearance at the event and produced his signature chilled corn soup during the group's Food and Wine Classic aboard the USS Midway. A sell-out crowd of 2,200 at the classic voted for their favorite culinary team among entries that also represented Hilton Hotels Corp., Houston and Canada.
"I don't know that there were any losers in this event," said John Washko, The Broadmoor's vice president of sales and marketing. "It is hard to beat a grilled Omaha steak. We are going back next year for the competition in Toronto."
