THE GAZETTE

A construction worker was killed this morning when a piece of heavy equipment rolled at a project site near the intersection of Powers and Palmer Park boulevards in Colorado Springs.

The accident was reported at 9:18 a.m. at 655 Space Center Drive, said Colorado Springs Fire Department spokeswoman Lt. Julie Stone.

The victim, a 50-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, Stone said. He was inside an earth compactor when the vehicle overturned, she said.

An investigator from the Occupational Health and Safety Administration was en route, Stone said.

Harrison school district closer to pay for performance for teachers
Should teacher pay be based on performance?
Yes. Teachers should be rewarded for good work, and poor performers should be weeded out.
No. Pay for performance is just a back-door way of blaming teachers for other problems in the education system.
It depends on what "performance" means. It's good if there's a fair measurement of performance.
Undecided.
