Vans, an action sports footwear and apparel company, plans to open a store at Chapel Hills Mall this spring.
The mall announced Wednesday that construction will begin next week on the roughly 2,700-square-foot store. The store — the first Vans store in southern Colorado — will be on the mall’s upper level, near J.C. Penney. It will replace Fashion Sakura, which has relocated to the mall’s theater wing. An April opening is being eyed, said Victoria Harley, Chapel Hills Mall general manager.
Cypress, Calif.-based Vans has more than 250 company-owned stores, according to its website, with several Vans stores in the Denver area, including at the Cherry Creek Shopping Center and the Park Meadows Mall. Vans products are also sold in a variety of retailers. Vans collections include footwear, apparel and accessories, snowboard boots and the Pro-tec line of protective gear.
“Vans will be a welcome addition to our retail line-up, and will complement Colorado Springs’ adventure and outdoor lifestyle well,” Harley said. “Vans will be in good company with other youth-focused retailers at Chapel Hills Mall, such as Aéropostale, B.C. Surf & Sport, Dick’s Sporting Goods, PacSun and Zumiez.”
