Sand Creek student delivers heartfelt reminders

THE GAZETTE

A student at Sand Creek High School worked hard to make sure every girl received special recognition this Valentine’s Day.

Katherine Serrano, a junior at the Falcon School District 49 school, visited every classroom at Sand Creek on Tuesday with a hand-folded origami rose for every female in every classroom.

It’s part of an effort to foster self-esteem and self confidence in teen girls. Last week, about 30 students who wanted to help joined Katherine after school to carefully fold the origami valentines.

The paper roses also bear this message: “You are beautiful and unique in every single way. There is always someone that will always care about you. Someone who will always love you with all their heart. It may not seem to be visible at times, but they are always around and that they will always be thinking, and wishing the best for you. Happy Valentine's Day."
