Three shot, two stabbed in Springs on Saturday night

Party time turned ugly in a trio of incidents in Colorado Springs on Saturday night that left three people shot and two men stabbed, but none dead.

All three violent assaults happened in about a two-hour period between 10 p.m. and midnight, police said.

First, a wedding reception at El Imperio Bar, 550 S. Academy Blvd., turned into a brawl and the fighters were turned out into the parking lot, police said. Once outside, two men were stabbed in the parking lot with an unknown object. Police learned of the brawl about 10 p.m. when the two men came to the hospital for treatment, and their injuries were described as “superficial.”

Next, about 11 p.m., police were led on a wild goose chase for a time. A running fight between the passengers in two cars inspired several calls to the cops, who were first dispatched to Palmer High School. Police finally found the combatants at the intersection of Verde Drive and S. Chelton Road.

The groups in the two cars had yelled at each other, and one group threw bottles at the other car, police said. Both vehicles stopped in the intersection. As the passengers clambered out, shots were fired and one victim was hit in the lower leg. Police said the injury is not life-threatening.

Finally, a house party in southeast Colorado Springs ended when two men were shot. About 25 people were hanging out at 1125 Jet Wing Circle Drive, police said. During a fight, shots were fired. One man was shot in the stomach, and a second man was shot in the leg.

Police again discovered the crime when the victims came to the hospital. Both victims are in stable condition.
