Special events to help needy continue tonight

Colorado College is offering $5 tickets to tonight’s home game against Alaska-Anchorage in exchange for each non-perishable food item donated to the Care and Share Food Drive at the World Arena box office, which opens at 10 a.m.

The annual Teddy Bear Toss for area youths also will be held. Fans are asked to bring a teddy bear to throw onto the ice during the first intermission.

Tiger Growl Towels ($3 each, $5 for two) will be sold on the south concourse with all proceeds going to the Empty Stocking Fund, along with all Chuck-A-Puck money raised (second intermission).

Defensemen producing on offense

The Tigers continue to benefit from the versatility of their defensemen, who have accounted for almost 28 percent of the team’s scoring.

Blue-liners Ryan Lowery and Kris Fredheim scored for the Tigers on Friday night against Alaska-Anchorage. Lowery and Doug Leaverton also added assists.

Slap shot

All three of Alaska-Anchorage’s Western Collegiate Hockey Association wins have come on Saturday night.
