Timberview teacher accused in child porn case resigns

THE GAZETTE

A band teacher from Timberview Middle School in Briargate resigned Wednesday amid allegations he was collecting child pornography on his home computer.

Jaime Bush Schneider, 42, was arrested April 15 after investigators searched his computer at his home in Colorado Springs and found images of prepubescent girls engaged in sex or sexually explicit poses, authoriites said.

There is no evidence the computer contained images or video of children from Colorado Springs, police said.

Schneider had been employed at Timberview since 2001. He also was a tennis coach at Liberty High, and his wife works as a language arts teacher at Timberview.

Nanette Anderson, a spokeswoman for Academy District 20, told The Gazette last week that Schneider had no problems on record and passed the school's background check before being hired.

Anderson said Schneider was placed on administrative leave after the allegations surfaced. He resigned his position voluntarily on Wednesday, she said.

Before beginning at Timberview, Schneider was the band director at Westminster High School northwest of Denver from 1995 to 2000, according to his application for employment. He said he left to pursue a master's degree.

Police began investigating after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which had been alerted that the suspicious images appeared on Flickr.com, an image- and video-hosting Web site maintained by Yahoo.

Schneider was arrested on suspicion of sexual exploitation of children, a felony. He is free on a $3,000 bond while the case is pending in court, jail records show.
