Passenger traffic at Springs airport picks up slightly
Passenger traffic at the Colorado Springs Airport edged higher for the first time in nearly 1 1/2 years in May as a big jump in traffic for Allegiant Air offset a nearly 2,000 passenger decline reported by Delta Air Lines.
The six airlines serving the Springs boarded nine more passengers in May than a year earlier; when charter flights are included, the traffic increase grew to 47 passengers, or 0.1 percent, the airport said.
Passenger traffic at the airport had declined 17 consecutive months before May. Traffic in the first five months of the year is down 2.2 percent from a year earlier to 323,646.
