17-year-old stabbed in fight Sunday night

Doctors had to use staples to mend a gash on a teenager’s chest Sunday night after the boy was slashed with a knife during a fight.

The 17-year-old, whose name was not released, is expected to live, according to Colorado Springs police Lt. Kirk Wilson.

Police were notified of the stabbing about 8:45 p.m., Wilson said. The mother of the teen drove him to a Colorado Springs hospital after he was injured  near University Drive between Pikes Peak Avenue and Airport Road.

Police are still looking for the person responsible for the stabbing.
