THE GAZETTE

A freak accident is suspected in the death of woman found in her Patty Jewett-area home Saturday morning.

A friend called Colorado Springs police to the home on Janes Lane about 8:45 a.m. Cause and manner of death have not been determined.

The woman's name hasn't been released.

"We heard she had fallen into a freezer and gotten trapped in a position she couldn't get herself out of," Sgt. Tim Hogan said. "It cut off her air and she couldn't get herself out."

He said criminal involvement is not suspected. An autopsy has been scheduled.

Harrison school district closer to pay for performance for teachers
Should teacher pay be based on performance?
Yes. Teachers should be rewarded for good work, and poor performers should be weeded out.
No. Pay for performance is just a back-door way of blaming teachers for other problems in the education system.
It depends on what "performance" means. It's good if there's a fair measurement of performance.
Undecided.
