Woman found dead in south-side home

THE GAZETTE

Colorado Springs police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in her south-side home early this morning.

Police called the death suspicious and are awaiting the results of an autopsy. The age and identity of the victim were not released.

According to police, a family member called police to the home at 1002 Querida Drive about 2:20 a.m. and said they thought the woman was dead. Two children in the home with the woman were not injured, police spokesman Lt. David Whitlock said.

Homicide investigators were called to the home, but police have not said if they believe the woman was killed. If the death is determined to be a homicide, it would be the first this year in the city. Last year, there were 19 homicides in Colorado Springs.
