SLIDESHOW: Tigers, cubs will take turns occupying tiger yard at zoo

THE GAZETTE

Seven-month-old Amur tiger Zoya examined a cut log at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo's Asian Highlands exhibit Thursday, her first day spent entirely in the exhibit. She was joined by 8-month-old Billy Ray, nicknamed Grom, who was a little shyer in the new exhibit space.

Zoya was born at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and Billy Ray was born at the Pittsburgh Zoo but brought to Colorado Springs three weeks ago to be a companion to Zoya.

The cubs will trade days in the big tiger yard with the zoo's two adult tigers. The cubs will be in the yard from Thursday to Sunday each week, and the adults will be there the rest of the week.
