KEY ISSUES

1. What should state lawmakers be doing to strengthen Colorado's economy?

A state's economy is inextricably linked to a quality education system. Making sure that our education system prepares students for a complex technological world and that funding is focused toward this end is essential. We must attract small and large businesses, encourage investment in new energy technologies, and welcome entrepreneurs.

2. What should the state Legislature do about illegal immigration, or has it taken all necessary steps?

Immigration is essentially the role of the federal government. Even though our federal officials have failed to enact comprehensive immigration reform and take any effective action, Colorado did enact immigration law in July of this year. We must as a country find long-term solutions which are fair and equitable.

3. What role should the state government play in the advancement of renewable energy?

Colorado is unique in the West because of our high degree of sunshine and wind. We need to encourage investment in a wide variety of new energy technologies to include research and development by our universities and colleges. We must increase opportunities to recycle in all settings, private and public.
