Evergreen Cemetery's ghost rises on A&E

The Gazette

Never mind things that go bump in the night. Evergreen Cemetery volunteer, Mike Coletta, has seen a ghost in broad daylight.

Coletta’s video of a crypt door suddenly opening and closing in the basement of the old chapel will be featured on the beginning of season two of “My Ghost Story” Saturday at 8 p.m.

“I hope the Evergreen Cemetery chapel crypts episode will bring some good haunted interest,” Coletta said in an email.

Last summer Coletta was in the basement of the old chapel videotaping a KII meter, which ghost hunters use in paranormal research. The device had indicated evidence of an electrical magnetic field, when out of the corner of his eye, Coletta saw a crypt door begin to open and quickly swung the camera around to capture the event.

The producers of the show saw the video on YouTube and were so excited about the find that they flew Coletta and William DeBoer, Evergreen Cemetery manager, out to Los Angeles for interviews and to reenact the event.

The show flew a crew out to the Springs in January to film segments in the chapel.
