TABLE TALK: Restaurants concoct deals to draw diners

In these slow economic times some eateries are circling the wagons and offering reduced-price menu options to get people in seats.

For instance, The Famous, 31 N. Tejon St., has introduced the CLUB “31” menu, available at the bar nightly. This is for the bar diner looking for a smallish but satisfying meal such as Tuna Sashimi, Fresh Mussels with Pernod or Prime Beef Twin Burgers with pomme frites and sweet potato fries. Prices range from $15 to $24.

Ritz Grill, 15 S. Tejon St., is offering Monday Night is Steak Night, where you can have a 12-ounce New York strip or a 10-ounce filet mignon for $14. Both are served with fresh baked bread and sides. Call 635-8484 for reservations.

In Manitou Springs, the Stagecoach Inn, 702 Manitou Ave., has launched “Wanted Fed or Alive” frequent-diners club. At stagecoach inn.com/registra.htm, enter your e-mail address to receive a card. Then you get 1 point for every dollar you spend.

When you accumulate 100 points, you will get a $10 certificate to use at your next visit.

Other frequent-diners-club perks include: Munchkin Mondays (kids eat free); Two fer Tuesdays (double points); Winey Wednesdays (half-price bottles of wine with meals); Thirsty Thursdays (free soda, tea or coffee with meals); and Sundae Sundays (free sundae with meals).

Dine after 8 p.m. Sundays-Thursdays and get one-third off the bill.

Dinner of traditional Italian seafoods. Prices are comparable with the regular dinner menu. Seatings 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Call 575-9571 for reservations.

• The Blue Star, 1645 S. Tejon St.: four-course meal, $55 plus tax and gratuity; 632-1086.
• Briarhurst Manor, 404 Manitou Ave. in Manitou Springs: six-course dinner with glass of Schramsberg Champagne, $65; 685-1864.
• The Margarita at PineCreek, 7350 Pine Creek Road: seven-course tasting menu, $60, optional wine pairings, seating from 5 p.m.; 598-8667.
