BACKSHELF PICK: Comedy shows that Cusack can avoid disaster
Comments 0 | Recommend 0“Grosse Point Blank” (1997) — John Cusack finds himself upstaged by crumbling buildings, crashing aircraft carriers and other digital mayhem in the end-of-the-world smash “2012.” He’s better in “Grosse Point Blank,” a small-scale, offbeat romantic comedy that casts Cusack as a hit man who returns home for a class reunion and can’t help but bring his work with him. Cusack ignites a few sparks with Minnie Driver, who plays an old flame, and gets more than a few laughs playing off Dan Aykroyd, who plays a competitor.
