KEY ISSUES

1. What timetable for withdrawal from Iraq do you support and how

would you pay for the continued U.S. military presence?

I opposed the Bush administration's decision to invade Iraq, but I have

always supported funding our troops and will continue to do so. I've

expressed skepticism about inflexible or unrealistic timetables.

Instead, I support and authored legislation recommending a phased

redeployment, which is still relevant in post-surge Iraq.

2. Would you support a second round of "stimulus checks" to bolster

the weakening economy? If so, how would it be funded? If not, what

alternatives would you offer?

I would support a second round of stimulus checks to reduce the

impacts of economic recession. We should pay for it by reducing

spending in some other areas, including a moratorium on earmark

spending and utilizing pay-as-you-go rules in Congress. If necessary,

we should treat the cost as an emergency spending off-set.

3. What, if anything, needs to be done to address global warming?

Do you support subsidizing renewable energy development,

increasing oil and gas drilling or a combination?

I support the bipartisan "Gang of 16" Senate plan. The bill I have

authored will mitigate climate change, lower gasoline prices, and set

us on a path to energy independence. My plan includes more

investment in renewable energy (wind/solar), but also includes new

drilling, nuclear and fuel efficiency and conservation.

Harrison school district closer to pay for performance for teachers
Should teacher pay be based on performance?
Yes. Teachers should be rewarded for good work, and poor performers should be weeded out.
No. Pay for performance is just a back-door way of blaming teachers for other problems in the education system.
It depends on what "performance" means. It's good if there's a fair measurement of performance.
Undecided.
