BACKSHELF PICK: 'Capote' honors a writer whose story still relevant half a century later

“Capote” (2005) — Celebrate the 50th anniversary of “In Cold Blood” this week by watching this amazing biopic. Philip Seymour Hoffman gives the best performance of his stellar career channeling the eccentric, effeminate, brilliant journalist whose true-crime book remains as riveting today as it was half a century ago. Sure, Toby Jones, who stars in the other Capote movie, “Infamous” looks much more like Capote, but this film’s much better.
