Public meetings on Nov. 12 will cover proposed city bus service cuts
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Three meetings are planned Nov. 12 to explain possible sweeping cuts Colorado Springs bus service in 2010.
The city’s Mountain Metropolitan Transit is considering the following cuts, effective Jan. 1, because of a budget shortfall:
• eliminate evening and weekend bus service
• eliminate Route 30 to and from Fort Carson
• eliminate Route 31 to and from Fountain (unless the city of Fountain funds the route)
• eliminate all express routes to Schriever Air Force Base
• eliminate all FREX service, the commuter bus service to Denver funded by proceeds from the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority tax.
Transit officials have warned that paratransit bus service will be eliminated or cut commensurate with cuts in regular bus service.
Mountain Metro officials will discuss the possible cuts 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 12 at the Centennial Campus atrium of Pikes Peak Community College, 5675 S. Academy Blvd.
Similar presentations will be 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Falcon Police Substation, 7850 Goddard St., and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Colorado Springs City Hall, third floor, 107 N. Nevada Ave.
People with disabilities who need assistance to attend the meetings can call 385-7433, by Nov. 5.
