Favorite part of being a pastry chef: “The smell when it comes out of the oven — you can’t beat that. I also like the creativity.”
Favorite thing to make: “Wedding cakes. There are rarely two the same. People have brought in pictures off the Internet for us to duplicate, and we’ve never turned one down — we’ve been able to do anything.”
Favorite goodie to eat: “Orange macaroon torte. I like the combination of the flavors and the almond paste.”
Best-sellers: “Black Forest cake, pastries, schnitzel and German smoked sausage”
What’s made your business successful?: “It’s a high-quality product, not out-of-the-box type stuff.”
About the last day: “It’ll be a normal day, open 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. But I’ll try to make some extra baked goods because we’re expecting a crowd. We’ll be winding down and thanking everyone. We have really appreciated our customers.”
