THE GAZETTE

A fire that left one person hospitalized Tuesday caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage to the house that burned.

Firefighters estimate the blaze caused $50,000 in damage, according to Lt. Mike Smaldino, Colorado Springs Fire Department spokesman. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

A man suffered “significant” burns in the fire, which began about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at 6687 Annanhill Place, just east of Security Service Field where the Sky Sox baseball team plays in northeast Colorado Springs.

He was taken to a Colorado Springs hospital and fire officials were expecting him to be flown to a burn unit at a Denver hospital.
