Woman injured after minivan plunges 50 feet into Fountain Creek
A 50-year-old woman injured her neck and back Saturday afternoon after the minivan she was driving plunged roughly 50 feet into Fountain Creek.
The woman was airlifted out of the riverbed, according to Chief Darin Anstine of the Fountain Fire Department, but her injuries did not appear to be life threatening.
The Fountain Police Department is investigating the crash, which happened about 4:35 p.m. Saturday in the 6700 block of Southmoor Drive.
The minivan was northbound on Southmoor Drive — which curves slightly to the right — when it went off the left side of the road, through 20-30 feet of grass and over the cliff into the river. They grey minivan came to a rest on its driver's side.
“We don’t know for sure how she ended up just driving off the road,” Anstine said.
Alcohol is not suspected to have played a factor in the crash. The woman was not wearing a seatbelt.
