Police identify man, woman who were stabbed in dispute
Two people who were stabbed in a domestic dispute this morning were identified as 40-year-old Bonaficio Pena and 27-year-old Gloria Pena.
Both are in critical condition at Memorial Hospital, police said. Investigators did not say how they are related.
Police are trying to determine what led to the confrontation at the Whispering Pines Apartments complex at 3035 Mallard Drive, and are considering the possibility it was a botched attempt at a murder-suicide.
"We've obviously got to talk to them before we make those determinations," said Steve Noblitt, a police spokesman.
Police were called at 7:17 a.m. to the building, off Fountain Boulevard just east of South Circle Drive. The woman was stabbed in the neck, and the man suffered multiple stab wounds, police said, but other details were withheld.
"We don't think there's a third party involved, but we're not sure who's the aggressor and who's not," said Colorado Springs police Sgt. Randy Thomas.
