Failed FAA computers cause some delays in Springs, Denver

An FAA computer failure is blamed for causing slight delays this morning at Colorado Springs Airport and Denver International Airport.

In Colorado Springs, five flights were delayed -- the longest for about 50 minutes, said John McGinley, assistant director for operations and maintenance.

"Things are going along just fine now," he said.

In Denver, airport spokesman Chuck Cannon says some flights were delayed by 10 or 15 minutes.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the problem, which lasted about five hours, was fixed around 8 a.m. but it was unclear how long flights would continue to be affected.

Aviation officials told The Associated Press that the problem began at the computer center in the Salt Lake City area. The officials asked not to be named because they were not authorized to speak publicly.
