Colorado Springs police officers are looking for a man who they say stole a Corvette, robbed a convenience store and escaped after speeding away Monday night.

According to police, Jamil Andre Hopper, 33, stole an acquaintance's 1986 black Chevrolet Corvette about 11:10 p.m. Monday from a convenience store on East Platte Avenue. About half an hour later, officers heard of a robbery at the Circle K Convenience Store at 3805 Maizeland Road that involved a black Corvette. Video from the store confirmed that Hopper robbed the store.

About 2:15 a.m. police spotted the Corvette near Interstate 25, driving by a convenience store. Hopper eluded officers and drove onto the interstate. He was going so fast that officers were told not to chase him because of the dangerous speed he was driving.

Officers are still on the lookout for Hopper, who they say is wanted for a number of robberies. He is considered armed and dangerous. The black Corvette he was driving has a Colorado license plate: 067TAC.

Harrison school district closer to pay for performance for teachers
Should teacher pay be based on performance?
Yes. Teachers should be rewarded for good work, and poor performers should be weeded out.
No. Pay for performance is just a back-door way of blaming teachers for other problems in the education system.
It depends on what "performance" means. It's good if there's a fair measurement of performance.
Undecided.
