A double-slaying east of Colorado Springs Thursday was the result of a gang-related clash over a stolen iPod, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said.

The suspect, 19-year-old Juan Vasquez, was arrested early this morning on suspicion of the murders of two teenage boys, sheriff's spokeswoman Lt. Lari Seven said in a news release. Vasquez was placed on an immigration hold at the El Paso County jail.

The hold was placed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to jail records.

The victims attended Sierra High School and New Horizon School, the sheriff's office said. Their names were being withheld until autopsies were performed.

"The investigation has also revealed those involved are affiliated with local gangs," Sevene wrote in a news release.
