Broncos notes: Playing status of Marshall and Dawkins for Saturday still up in the air
Comments 0 | Recommend 0No decisions were made before the end of Thursday’s practice on who will play Saturday at Seattle, but, judging by repetitions, safety Brian Dawkins and receiver Brandon Marshall might be sitting out.
Dawkins took most of his reps on the scout team as Darcel McBath and Renaldo Hill were the first-team safeties, and David Bruton and Josh Barrett worked with the second team. Dawkins is practicing with a club cast on his injured right hand and it wouldn’t make sense to rush the veteran back into a preseason game.
Marshall’s situation is different. He admitted Wednesday that he isn’t close to being up to speed on the playbook. For the second straight day, he wasn’t with the offense when it practiced against a scout defense simulating Seattle.
Coach Josh McDaniels didn’t rule out either player for the game.
“Certainly, everybody out here on the practice field is just trying to get ready to go and play in the game,” he said.
Prater OK
McDaniels didn’t provide a reason as to why Matt Prater didn’t practice but said the kicker was fine and would make the trip.
“He’ll be all right,” McDaniels said. “It wasn’t anything big.”
Rookie punter Britton Colquitt handled kickoffs and field goals.
