Gazette

Op-ed pages won’t change without Paige at the helm

THE GAZETTE

A lot has been happening at -— and to -— The Gazette. Ready for more?

Editorial Page Editor Sean Paige, whose columns and writings under the “Our View” banner have given voice to the libertarian-leaning principles held by the Freedom Communications ownership, will be leaving The Gazette for new endeavors here in Colorado Springs.

A precise departure date has not been set. Nor has a replacement been named. Publisher Scott McKibben will be conducting a search, with the hopes of filling the position in the coming weeks.

Sean has been the Colorado Springs voice of Freedom’s worldview for five years. He has brought a lot of passion to the task. But it is a demanding grind to fill those columns every day and he felt the time was right for new challenges.

What won’t change is the dedication of Freedom Communications to use the “Our View” space to place the “Principles of Freedom,” printed daily at the bottom of the opposite page, in the context of current affairs. And the remainder of the opinion pages will continue to be a place where citizens can bring their own values and views to debate the issues of the day.
