OPINION: Tea party for the Fourth

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Patriotic Americans throughout the country will stage more Tax Day Tea Parties on Saturday, July 4, to protest excessive taxation, spending and federal indebtedness.

The Colorado Springs event will begin at 10 a.m. in Monument, where peaceful protesters will march in one of Colorado's best Fourth of July parades.

"We're facing cap-and-trade, the biggest scam in history, and universal health care now," said organizer July Collard. "Either could devastate our economy even more than the stimulus package."

Nothing could be more patriotic than participating in an event that champions limited government and individual liberty. Collard asks participants to stay on message, protesting government spending and control only.

An independent who left the Republican Party in disgust, Collard urges people of all political alliances to participate if they support limited government. For information, visit www.cspringsteaparty.com, or e-mail Collard at Coloradospringstaxdayteaparty@gmail.com. The event also has a Facebook page. Watch the parading Tea Party and cheer it on, or contact Collard and join in the fun. Just remember to promote the virtues of limited government on Independence Day.

Harrison school district closer to pay for performance for teachers
Should teacher pay be based on performance?
Yes. Teachers should be rewarded for good work, and poor performers should be weeded out.
No. Pay for performance is just a back-door way of blaming teachers for other problems in the education system.
It depends on what "performance" means. It's good if there's a fair measurement of performance.
Undecided.
