OPINION: 600 new primary jobs

July 3, 2009 - 8:53 PM

Congratulations to city leaders and the staff and board of the Colorado Springs Economic Development Corp.

Though voters rejected an economic development tax to recruit new businesses, Dallas-based Affiliated Computer Services chose Colorado Springs for a new customer-service center that will create 600 new primary jobs for which thousands of unemployed local residents are well qualified to fill. It's the largest single expansion of jobs in the Springs since 2006, and any city in the country would love to have beaten us out.

Voters in Colorado Springs are wise. They knew our city could attract new jobs without a new tax. Tell all your friends how great this city is. Blog it, Twitter it, e-mail it and talk it. Let's make a trend of the wise decision by Affiliated Computer Services to set up shop in this great city.
