OUR VIEW: Fresh•Ink, it's your media
Who says newspapers print only bad news? Forget that old cliché. The role of newspapers is changing in print and online. An exciting part of the evolution is community journalism, also known as citizen journalism. Citizen journalism offers readers opportunities they haven’t always had to make sure their good or sad news is known. The neighborhood papers under the Fresh•Ink banner are designed to reflect the fabric of community life: your church events, neighborhood happenings and your children’s milestones.
Fresh•Ink is two-fold: Community participants supply the content online. Our staff selects content each week that is then published to the print versions of Fresh•Ink.
We are adding two more neighborhoods Feb. 3, Briargate and the Powers Blvd. area, to the Fresh•Ink family. With the Old Colorado City, Manitou and Fountain papers the communities represented encompass a major portion of the Pikes Peak region.
In addition, all four neighborhood papers will be delivered to Gazette subscribers in those areas. There will also be more rack locations in high-traffic locations to distribute the papers to more readers.
Since the content of Fresh•Ink is dependent on the community, we need your participation. You can register at csfreshink.com and start sharing your stories, photos or opinions. You can create a blog or publish your church or organization’s activities. Small talk is a big deal at csfreshink.com. — Pula Davis, for the editorial board
