High school golf postseason starts Monday

The high school postseason starts Monday with two boys golf regional tournaments involving area teams.

The Class 5A Colorado Springs regional will start at 8 a.m. at the Pinery Country Club in Parker. Nine area teams and six teams, including favorite Douglas County, from the Continental Conference will tee it up. Highlands Ranch is another traditional power in the mix.

Of the area teams, Air Academy has a good chance at sending a foursome to its home course - Eisenhower Golf Course - for the state tournament Oct. 6-7.

Vista Ridge will compete Monday in the 4A Metro regional at the Foothills Golf Course in Denver.On Tuesday, the remaining area teams compete in the 4A Southern regional at Walking Stick Golf Course in Pueblo, the 3A Metro at Murphy Creek and the 3A Southern atHollydot in Colorado City.

The 3A Southern features The Classical Academy, Colorado Springs Christian School and St. Mary's.

The 4A Southern includes all 11 Colorado Springs Metro teams and Cañon City. The 4A state tournament is Oct. 6-7 at the Yampa Valley Golf Course in Craig.

The 3A state tournament is at Spring Valley Golf Course in Elizabeth.
